In 2001 Craig trained on Convex Shear Sharpening at the Arius Eckert Factory in Fremont, Ohio.
In 2003 he became a Certified Shear sharpener with the National Shear Sharpeners Guild, and again in 2004.
In 2007 and in 2008 Craig again certified with the NSSG earning a third and fourth place finish.
In 2009 Craig certified as "Master Sharpener" in the National Beauty Tool Sharpeners guild, scoring second in shears and thinners, and first in clipper blades.
